The time is ripe for the ‘metaverse’. The core concept behind the metaverse is captured in books like Snow Crash and Ready Player One; it includes large virtual worlds in which anyone and anything can exist, hang-out, trade, create and work. Critical to this idea is unprecedented interoperability between experiences. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, paints a picture of what is to come:
